With over 500 students, MUN New York Summer Edition is one of the largest and most prestigious Model United Nations events held in New York during the summer. In the heart of the Big Apple, MUN New York Summer brings together students from all over the world to exchange views, debate and propose solutions to some of today’s most pressing issues, from climate change to international security.
The world’s most important and competitive United Nations simulation
The students will be tasked with faithfully representing a country in an attempt to find a solution to issues of international significance: climate change, terrorism, the international economy, conflict resolution, human rights and many others.
The project, which will be conducted in English, will be a unique opportunity to develop your potential and put yourself to the test in a dynamic and stimulating environment.

The Security Council, the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, UNICEF and the Human Rights Council are just some of the working groups within which, together with their colleagues, they will endeavour to negotiate the best solutions to the world’s problems.
The main aim of the programme is to develop and enhance the most important soft skills currently recognised: public speaking, negotiation, teamwork, time management, leadership, and research and writing methods.
MUN-ITALIA is organising a training course of the highest standard, which is innovative and recognised as one of a kind, and which is a key element in ensuring that participants are properly prepared for the international conference.

The three simulations – one for secondary schools, one for sixth-form colleges and one for universities – are held separately but take place at the same time.
The MUN • EUROPE simulation circuit – Rome, Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Brussels and Valletta – offers the option of undertaking the training course and the simulation either entirely in English or in the language of the host country. Thus, Italian for Rome, French for Paris and Brussels, Spanish for Madrid, German for Berlin, and English for Malta.

Visa info
Participation in the MUN does not require a student visa, but rather a tourist visa. If you are a citizen of an EU country, you are free to travel within the EU with an identity card or passport. If you are a non-EU citizen: visit this government website for information on the visa you require https://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en Once you have registered for the conference, we can provide you with a document confirming your enrolment in the programme. This document does not guarantee that you will be granted a visa, nor does it replace it: the decision to grant a visa lies with the relevant national authorities.
How to request the letter:
- Register for the conference/Register your group for the conference, and confirm your registration by paying the participation fee.
- Once payment has been received, we reserve the right to request proof of your studies to confirm your eligibility to take part. The lecturer or head of delegation must provide a list of students taking part in the project.
- Your request will be processed by our offices within 5 to 10 working days.

Get ready for the project
General Information
Once country and committee assignments have been received, each delegate representing a United Nations member state will be required to write a Position Paper. This is a policy statement reflecting the country’s point of view on the topic assigned to the committee. The Position Paper should outline the relevant resolutions, conventions, and international and regional treaties that support your country’s position. It is essential to identify the key issues, explain your country’s policy, and propose concrete recommendations for action.
Observer members and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are not required to write a Position Paper.

Format and Guidelines
- The document must not exceed one page in length.
- Standard margins, Arial 10pt font, and justified text.
- Including the national flag or coat of arms in the header is accepted.
- The country represented, the committee, and the topic must be clearly indicated before the text.
- Do not include citations or a bibliography: the Position Paper is a policy statement and must be written as if it were drafted by a real diplomatic representative; it is not an academic paper.
- The document must be submitted in PDF format.
- Each delegate must submit only one Position Paper related to their assignment.
- Each delegate will represent their country in the committee individually.
- A faculty advisor or Head Delegate may upload all the Position Papers of their delegation to the platform.
Please note that Position Papers must consist entirely of original writing. Based on their research, delegates must develop their own ideas and recommendations and present them in their own words. MUN-EUROPE does not tolerate plagiarism, including the reproduction of content from the Background Guides.

Thematic Areas for Topics and Committees
All topics and committees within the MUN EUROPE circuit are developed around four main thematic areas. These areas reflect the fundamental pillars of international diplomacy and guide the definition of committees and debate agendas for each simulation. The Scientific Committee selects the most relevant topics based on international developments and the conference’s educational objectives.
Security and Crisis Management It focuses on international peace and security, conflict prevention, crisis management, defence cooperation and geopolitical stability.
Economic and Financial Cooperation Addresses issues relating to global economic governance, international trade, development policies, financial stability and economic cooperation between states.
International Law Explore the legal frameworks governing relations between states, including international treaties, accountability mechanisms, jurisdiction and the development of international law.
Human Rights and Social Equality Examines the protection of fundamental rights, social inclusion policies, humanitarian action and international efforts to reduce inequalities.

Not all committees are available at every conference. For each MUN EUROPE simulation, the Scientific Committee selects the most relevant committees and topics.
All you need to know
Taking part in a MUN project means embarking on an educational experience that begins at the moment of registration and unfolds in several stages, from the training course through to the simulation and the trip.
Registration and program selection
Students can choose between two types of experiences.
MUN•EUROPE: held in cities such as Rome, Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, London, Vienna, and Malta. Each simulation lasts three days (see each project’s official dedicated page) and is open to middle school, high school, and university students. Sessions are always organized separately for each school level, so as to guarantee a suitable experience for every age group. In these projects, MUN•EUROPE handles the simulation only; travel and accommodation are left up to participants, but for school groups the support of our partner tour operator is available.
MUN New York – Schools: a program dedicated to high school students, with four days of simulation and city tour activities organized by MUN-EUROPE. Students are always accompanied by tutors and teachers, who follow them throughout all activities as well as during everyday moments.
MUN New York – University: aimed at university students, it includes four days of simulation and days dedicated to cultural and institutional visits in New York. As they are of legal age, participants have autonomy during their free time, while still having the opportunity to join initiatives organized by our staff.
MUN Washington DC: reserved for university students, it consists of five days in total, with three days of simulation in the US capital, followed by a transfer to New York for additional days of academic and cultural activities. Here too, students are free to manage their own free time, with the option of taking part in optional institutional visits.
Difference between the “Weeks”: The various Weeks we offer differ mainly in two respects: the dates on which the experience takes place and the US partner organization running the simulation. In all cases, these are conferences selected and recognized by MUN•EUROPE and our staff as being among the best and most competitive simulations in New York and Washington DC.
Preparation before departure
Once registration is complete, participants receive the materials needed for their preparation.
For all MUN USA programs and for those who choose the Complete package for MUN•EUROPE, an online training course is provided, consisting of six live afternoon lessons of approximately three hours each, led by our instructors. This educational program provides all the skills needed to face the simulation at your best: rules of procedure, international relations, negotiation, and public speaking. In addition, access will be provided to an e-learning platform with a library of more than 50 recorded videos.
Those who choose the Delegate or Observer packages for MUN•EUROPE receive their study materials by email, to prepare independently.
The simulation and the experience
During MUN•EUROPE events, students take part in three days of simulation and no extra organized activities are planned: free time is entirely managed by the participants.
In the MUN USA – University programs (New York and Washington DC), the simulation takes place over four days, with additional days dedicated to cultural or institutional visits. Since students are of legal age, they are free to organize their own free time.
In the case of MUN USA – High Schools, on the other hand, the entire experience takes place as a group under the supervision of tutors and teachers. Simulation days alternate with city sightseeing according to a shared itinerary, sent to students and parents before departure. Meals are also managed as a group: students can freely choose what to eat, always within agreed areas and with set meeting times. The simulation always lasts a total of four days, leaving the remaining days free to explore the city.
Conclusion and certification
At the end of each experience, participants receive an official certificate of participation and a comprehensive report stating the total number of hours completed throughout the program. MUN•EUROPE or MUN USA is recognized as a valuable credential to enrich one’s educational path and enhance one’s CV.
